\(Bdellovibrio\) \(bacteriovorus\) HD 100 is a σ-proteobacterium that predates on Gram-negative bacteria. The lifecycle of \(Bdellovibrio\) \(bacteriovorus\) is complex and regulated in part by the cyclic nucleotide, c-di-GMP. Gene knockouts of diguanylate cyclases reveal discrete phenotypes in \(Bdellovibrio\) at different time points of predation.
This thesis documents the findings undertaken on a diverse set of proteins that operate at distinct stages of the predatory lifecycle of Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus. In general, this work explores three major predatory lifecycle events: growth & metabolism, development & signalling and finally bdelloplast lysis & exit.
